The markets
Looking at the markets, 2010 ended up being a year of consolidation for the Australian market, whilst the US performed stronger than most expected and Europe was weighed down by the ongoing sovereign debt issues. Surprisingly, despite the relatively strong growth in their economies, the stock markets of China and India were sluggish, perhaps in anticipation of the inevitable moderation that must follow a period of such growth.

One interesting feature of the last 12 months has been the performance of the Aussie market in comparison to that of the US and Great Britain as depicted in the graph below.
